Born in 1897 in Rawalpindi, now in Pakistan. Participated in Swadeshi movement of Gandhiji. Organised Katai Mandal, training and crafts and social education for women. Post partition, worked in Bal Niketan, a centre for training and rehabilitation of widows and destitute women displaced from Pakistan. Contributed immensely to the socio-economic transformation of Himachal Pradesh. In Shimla, established a home for destitute children; started Sarvodaya Bal Ashram and Kasturba Seva Kendra.
